Drug Discovery
This course focuses on preclinical drug discovery and drug repositioning methodology, focusing in particular on molecules with antimicrobial activity.
During the first day the most common in vitro and spectrofluorimetric techniques used in pharmaceutical research will be described.
On the second day, the students will have the opportunity to test the activity of a novel compound against some non-pathogenic bacterial strains, evaluating their growth spectrophotometrically and comparing the results with a known antibiotic.
Data analysis to establish the EC50 of the compound will be explained.
